Fever Dreams, Fragile Plans, and Fresh Starts

Hello Reader,

Today's newsletter was supposed to cover Warren Buffett's retirement plans (yes, even legends retire), Texans voting to build a SpaceX city, Trump's curious Alcatraz idea, and a peek into tonight's Met Gala extravaganza.

But life had other plans. After dodging it for years, COVID finally caught me—and trust me, it's been a rough weekend. I'm typing this through aches, pains, and fingers that feel like lead weights.

Moments like these, even for someone who wears Memento Mori ("remember you must die") on the dial of his watch, are a stark reminder of how fragile and unpredictable life is.

Last month, I shared how challenging things had been, and your responses genuinely pulled me back on track. Thanks to your support, The Core is back to its roots—and we even launched our first spin-off newsletter, Watch World. There's so much more planned: exciting new sections, deeper dives, better designs… But weeks like this remind me just how tough running a solo operation is.

So here's the part that matters most: thank you.

Thank you for tuning in daily, reading The Core, and giving it a spot in your inbox. Your replies, clicks, and small gestures mean more than you know. Special thanks to those who've supported Buy Me a Coffee—you truly keep this alive.

These things you did made me think of another powerful phrase: Amor Fati. These words about embracing every aspect of life—not just the good, but especially the challenging parts—felt strangely comforting and fitting at this moment.

I've also set up a quick, simple feedback form. Share anything: what you love, what you don't, what The Core means, or just a hello. Your voice matters and will shape our new website and future plans.

I'll say it again (and yes, you might be tired of hearing it): You give me strength, meaning, and a reason to keep going. The Core isn't just a newsletter anymore—it's our shared breathing space and something genuinely meaningful for all of us.

Let's close April here and aim to make May even better, stronger, and more sustainable.

I'm really grateful you're here.

See you soon, maybe tomorrow?

In the quiet pre-dawn, I thought two things: First, Toyota and Waymo are partnering, so I could soon nap safely behind the wheel—and that's a big deal. Second, letting decades-old desegregation orders expire feels like a sneaky reboot. Regarding North Korea taking your job... nothing surprises me at this...
