Inside GmailGate

Daily Edition • April 30, 2025

Supported by you:

Good morning,

Today we’re venturing from Nintendo’s shiny new Switch 2 reveal, the Gmail fiasco (hello, post-Signalgate drama), and a tough pill to swallow on America’s Xanax addiction.. Ready? Here we go!

🚨 Be the First to Know:

• Just like we said yesterday, Trump launched a historic global trade war.
• Destructive tornadoes and storms hit the central US, and once-in-a-lifetime flooding is likely today.
• Egg prices are falling. The thing is, there's a catch.
• The FDA just missed a deadline for another vaccine.

Meet GmailGate

As if Signalgate wasn't enough, Team Trump is now battling "GmailGate"—this time involving NSA Mike Waltz and other staffers using personal Gmail accounts for government business. Imagine hush-hush war plans, top-secret briefings, and an inbox that's open to every hacker around.

It all happened after Waltz accidentally invited a journalist to a Signal chat. The administration’s official line? “We’d never transmit classified stuff this way.” Whistleblowers, furious officials, and even the president aren't impressed by Waltz's sloppy OPSEC, so the White House is scrambling to prevent a nuclear meltdown.

Generation Xanax

From Gen Z's TikTok confessionals to housewives, America's fascination with Xanax (and its benzodiazepine cousins) is soaring—and so are the horror stories.

Some people swear by these pills for anxiety and sleepless nights. Sadly, for many, prolonged use turns into full-blown addiction, with crippling withdrawal symptoms, like panic attacks, brain zaps, and an anxiety monster that dwarfs any worries in the first place. Even worse, benzo addiction is catching older adults and those who least expect it. This "wonder drug" has a very dark side, doctors warn.

Tariffs at Play

Ready to fling red shells in 4K and talk with your squad? The Switch 2 will go on sale for $449.99 on June 5, and it's got a 7.9-inch 1080p screen and a Joy-Con mouse. This open-world Mario Kart game hits the launch lineup with a "C" button that lets you chat and screen share (subscription required).

Subscribers will enjoy GameCube nostalgia (looking at you, F-Zero GX), but be aware: tariffs are baked into the price. Even so, if you've been itching for open-world racing and a portable console, the Switch 2 might be a good bet.
